Winter in Las Vegas can be a much quieter experience than you’d get during the high season, but the month of December is still jam-packed with things to do.
You might be visiting for the holiday decorations, you might be visiting for New Year’s Eve festivities, or you might just find yourself there for work. Regardless of what you’re here for, catching a Las Vegas show should be on your list of things to do in December.
After all, the pools are closed and the dayclubs have gone dark for the season. The next best thing? Experiencing one of these high-production value shows throughout the city!
Here is our curated list of the top Las Vegas shows to catch this December.
Las Vegas Shows For Out-Of-This-World Entertainment
Awakening
Starting with the visionary minds of Bernie Yuman, Baz Halpin and Michael Curry, Awakening has captured a massive audience with its combination of dramatic choreography, fantastical creatures, original musical score, and narration by none other than Anthony Hopkins.
At the core of Awakening is a hero’s quest to confront the forces of Light and Darkness. The protagonist, known as IO, encounters a diverse cast of characters, both human and fantastical, as she navigates the challenges that unfold in her mission to reunite opposing forces and save the world.
The show has been called the most technically advanced show on the planet. To help you illustrate why, I’ll just tell you that they spent $120 million to create a massive 360-degree theater just for this show.
Expect everything from amazing dancers, magic, illusions, and puppetry!
- Type of Show: Top-Seller, Variety
- Where: Awakening Theater, Wynn Las Vegas
- Show Length: 80 minutes – No intermission
- Age Restriction: For audiences 5 years and older
Absinthe
Named “the #1 greatest show in Las Vegas history” by Las Vegas Weekly, Absinthe is a thrilling showcase featuring world-class artists who push the boundaries with amazing feats of strength, balance, danger, and unfathomable flexibility.
Set in an intimate circus tent, this Spiegelworld show is full of raunchy jokes, lingerie-clad acrobats, and adult comedy, so be prepared for an outlandishly good time. It’s a full-fledged institution in Vegas, still one of the most buzzed-about shows on the Strip, and an innovation that has impacted the direction of live entertainment in Las Vegas.
- Type of Show: Top Seller, Variety
- Where: Spiegeltent on the Roman Plaza, Caesars Palace
- Show Length: 80 minutes – No intermission
- Age Restriction: Must be 18 years of age or older
Shin Lim: LIMITLESS
Shin Lim, the only person to win America’s Got Talent not once, but twice, has attracted nearly 1 million fans across more than 900 Las Vegas shows with no signs of slowing down.
Heralded as “one of the most astonishing illusionists ever” and “The #1 Sleight of Hand Artist in the World”, his show has been a hit over the years he performed at The Mirage (since 2019).
Despite the hotel’s recent shutdown, his show is still alive and well. He’s now performing his all-new show, Limitless, at The Venetian Resort.
We had the opportunity to attend the opening night of Limitless at The Venetian this October and had a total blast. With a healthy mix of card magic, epic (and quite astonishing) sleight-of-hand, aerial acrobatics, and even some mentalism, we’re happy to say this show is 100% worth the hype.
- Type of Show: Magic
- Where: The Palazzo Theatre, The Venetian Resort
- Show Length: 90 minutes – No intermission
- Age Restriction: Must be 5 years of age or older
Miss Behave’s Mavericks Show
If you missed your chance to watch this show when it debuted at Fremont Street’s Cheap Shot, get ready for your second chance this year — as of October 2024, Miss Behave’s Mavericks has found a new home at Plaza Hotel’s historic showroom!
This quirky variety show blends circus, comedy, burlesque, and vaudeville. Because of its always-changing acts and reliance on audience participation, no two shows are ever the same.
“It’s gonna be like the Muppet Show running riot round this beautiful ol’ Dame. We can’t wait,” said Miss Behave (Amy Saunders) in a media release. “It’s a marriage made in heaven. This beautiful showroom has been looking for an excuse to show off, and Mavericks is perfect for that. Let’s make Las Vegas Vegas again!”
Tickets range from $35 to $99 (no pesky ticket fees!). They even have a special NYE show to ring in the New Year!
