Trying to plan a Las Vegas trip with kids can feel like a gamble in itself. You want the fun, but you’re also wondering if they’ll get bored, overwhelmed, or exposed to way more “adult Vegas” than you signed up for. Between smoky-smelling casinos, long walks on the Strip, and all the daytime drinking, it’s fair to question whether Vegas is even worth it with little ones.

Here’s the good news. Vegas has quietly become way more family-friendly than it gets credit for.

To do it right, you just need to know where to stay. There are hotels that are practically built with kids in mind, where the entertainment isn’t a mere afterthought; it’s the main attraction.

Think castle-themed stays at Excalibur Hotel and Casino, pyramid adventures at Luxor Hotel and Casino, massive pool playgrounds at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, and activity-packed resorts like Tahiti Village.

There are dinner shows like Tournament Of Kings where kids can cheer and eat unapologetically with their hands, massive arcades they won’t want to leave, kid-friendly shows that take place way before their bedtime, interactive exhibits, lazy rivers, wave pools, and enough built-in entertainment to fill your entire trip without overplanning.

If you do it right, your simple Las Vegas getaway can turn into one of those trips where the kids are just as excited as you are (and maybe even a little more).

Tahiti Village Resort & Spa

If you’re traveling with younger kids and don’t feel like dragging them up and down the Strip all day, Tahiti Village Resort & Spa makes things ridiculously easy. At this resort, the property itself is the entertainment.

The pool alone is a huge win, with a sand-entry beach area and a lazy river that you’ll end up circling more times than you’d like to admit. Kids can float for hours while you half-relax and half-keep an eye on them from a lounge chair.

Then there’s the daily activity lineup. We’re talking DIY crafts, bingo, video game hours, and random pop-up activities throughout the day that give kids something to look forward to beyond just pool time.

And then there’s the Mermaid Encounter, which is exactly what it sounds like. Kids get to interact with a real-life mermaid and play games, pirate treasure chest and all. To top off the mermaid theme, also offer a Swim With a Fin experience for stronger swimmers, which is essentially a mini mermaid training session.

On top of that, the suites here are spacious, which matters more than you think when everyone needs a break from each other. You’ve got kitchens, living areas, and room to spread out.

Food-wise, your options are mostly casual and family-friendly, so you’re not stressing about whether your kid is being too loud. No one cares. That’s the inviting atmosphere they’re going for.

If your goal is to keep things easy, affordable, and centered around your kids actually having fun, this place nails it.

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino

If you want an on-the-Strip hotel that feels like a full-on vacation within your Vegas trip, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is a great contender. We absolutely love this hotel for its luxury-meets-family-friendly approach.

The whole place feels idyllically tropical from the moment you walk in. Natural light pours through the windows, there are palm trees and warm wood tones everywhere, and it honestly feels more like a beach resort than something sitting in the middle of the desert.

At times, it gives South Seas vacation energy, and other times it weirdly feels like you’ve stepped into an Indiana Jones set. Either way, it doesn’t feel like your typical Vegas hotel, which is exactly why families love it!

The main reason to stay here is the Mandalay Bay Beach complex. This is not your average hotel pool. It’s an 11-acre playground with a massive wave pool, a lazy river with a waterfall, a sandy beach area where kids can actually dig their feet into real sand, plus multiple pools and hot tubs for the adults.

You could easily spend your entire trip right here and not spend a dime more than what you’ve paid for the hotel. You’ll see tons of kids running around, floating in the lazy river, and playing in the wave pool, so don’t be shy! This place was made for kids.

Beyond the pool, there’s plenty to keep kids busy without leaving the property. The Shark Reef Aquarium is a huge highlight. You get to walk through tunnels surrounded by sharks, rays, and sea turtles, and suddenly everyone’s fully engaged.

Food is another strong point here. There are plenty of restaurants that won’t make you feel out of place for bringing kids, along with quick and casual spots when you just need to feed everyone fast. At the same time, there are higher-end options if you want a nicer dinner without leaving the hotel.

Location-wise, yes, it sits at the southern end of the Strip. But honestly, that’s not a bad thing. It feels a little more relaxed down here, and you’re still connected to places like Luxor and Excalibur by foot or tram. The free tram is a game-changer, especially with kids!

MGM Grand

If you want options, MGM Grand has plenty. This resort complex is massive, and it sometimes even feels like a small city. The upside is you’ll never run out of things to do, which is exactly what you want when traveling with kids.

The pool complex alone could take up your entire trip. Multiple pools, a lazy river, plenty of space to spread out, and constant energy in the background. You can grab food poolside, hang out for hours, and not feel like you need to rush off to the next thing.

Entertainment here is next level. KÀ by Cirque du Soleil is iconic, one that keeps both adults and kids glued to their seats with insane acrobatics and a moving stage made for gripping fight scenes.

Then you’ve got the Jabbawockeez, which is high-energy, dance-heavy, and super fun for families. Even David Copperfield performs here, which adds another layer of magic to your trip (yes, pun intended).

For downtime, there’s the LEVEL UP gaming lounge and a full VR experience where kids can run around and actually play inside a virtual world.

Dining ranges from full buffets to quick food court options, so you can adjust based on your energy level that day. There’s no pressure to dress up or commit to anything fancy unless you want to.

If you’ve brought some babysitting company along and you’re ready for date night, boy oh boy, have you got options. Splurgy romantic options include Craftsteak, Joël Robuchon, and SO much more.

Excalibur

Excalibur - GoVegasGuide

This one looks like a giant castle, which already makes it a win for kids before you even step inside. Excalibur, for the uninitiated, is one of the most unapologetically family-friendly hotels on the Strip, and it’s super affordable too.

If your kids are even remotely into knights, castles, or anything fantasy-related, this place is going to make them happy.

The biggest highlight here is the Tournament of Kings, and honestly, this alone can justify staying here. ToK is a full-on dinner show set in a massive arena where knights battle on horseback, swords clash, and the whole crowd gets way too into cheering for their assigned kingdom.

There are pyrotechnics, dramatic storytelling about King Arthur, and a high level of immersion that keeps kids locked in throughout. You’re also eating with your hands (no utensils, unless you absolutely need them), which may sound messy, but that’s part of the entire experience.

Another underrated win is the Mac King Comedy Magic Show, a 70-minute show that features sleight-of-hand, family-friendly humor, plus some quirky bits involving live animals and audience participation.

Then there’s the Fun Dungeon, which is basically arcade heaven. We’re talking around 200 games, from classic arcade machines to carnival-style games and ticket redemption setups that kids will absolutely obsess over. There’s even a motion simulator ride and a 4-D theater experience where you can watch things like Scooby Doo or Aquaman with all the added effects.

Luxor

Luxor Hotel and Casino Las Vegas

Staying at Luxor Hotel and Casino is already an experience before you even unpack your bags. You’re literally sleeping inside a giant black pyramid, and the hotel atrium alone is enough to keep kids entertained for a solid 10 minutes.

This hotel works well for families because there’s a mix of attractions right inside the building. You’ve got exhibits like Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and Bodies… The Exhibition, which are surprisingly engaging exhibits for older kids and teens.

One of the newer highlights is Play Playground, a massive 15,000-square-foot indoor play space packed with oversized nostalgic games. You’ll find everything from physical challenges, puzzle games, memory games, and team-based competitions where you’re racing against each other and laughing the whole time.

The Blue Man Group show is also here, and it’s a great option if you want a show that’s equal parts weird, loud, and in-your-face, keeping kids locked in the whole time. Lots of music, lots of color… It’s anything but boring, we’ll tell you that much!

Dining is casual enough that you won’t feel out of place with kids, and there are plenty of quick options when everyone’s hungry at different times. The pool area is big, open, and easy to navigate, which helps when you’re managing multiple kids.

Rooms are quite affordable and spacious here, making it a solid value pick. Plus, you’re connected to both Excalibur and Mandalay Bay by tram, which means more exploring without needing to constantly taxi/walk around on foot.
