While September brings hot weather, it’s nowhere as hot as it is in the summer months.

Daily highs average 89°F, rarely falling below 79°F or exceeding 105°F. Nights bring cooler temps too!

If you’re planning to do outdoor activities in September, be sure to keep an eye on the weather and pack accordingly (sunhats, cold water, sunscreen, electrolytes, etc.). You’ll want to do outdoor activities early in the morning (ideally before 9am) or after the sun sets.

iHeartRadio Music Festival

Now in its fifteenth year, the annual iHeartRadio Music Festival showcases today’s biggest names across all music genres. Held at the T-Mobile Arena, the festival delivers two nights of non-stop hits, world premieres, and unique collaborations.

Recent headliners include Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, Harry Styles, and Doja Cat, making it the ultimate stage for iconic and emerging artists alike. Last year specifically featured performances from a star-studded lineup including Big Sean, Camila Cabello, Doja Cat, Gwen Stefani, Hozier, Keith Urban, New Kids on the Block, Paramore, Shaboozey, and more.

Universal Horror Unleashed at AREA15

New as of August 2025, Universal Horror Unleashed at AREA15 brings year-round chills to Vegas. This massive 110,000-square-foot haunted attraction features fully themed horror experiences based on classics like The Exorcist and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Bring your nerves… and maybe a bottle of water to replenish yourself after all your laughs and screams.

Las Vegas Greek Food Festival

If a weekend full of delicious Greek food sounds like a good time to you, then the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival needs to be on your September Vegas itinerary.

Touted as the largest food festival in Nevada, the Las Vegas Greek Food Festival takes place from September 26-28, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church.

You can indulge in all kinds of authentic Greek cuisine, enjoy cultural music, and participate in traditional dances like the sirtaki. The event features an agora marketplace with unique imported jewelry and hand-crafted decor, as well as rides and games suitable for all ages.

Catch a Las Vegas Raiders home game

If you’ve never been to a pro football game in Vegas, now’s your chance. The Las Vegas Raiders play at Allegiant Stadium, just off the Strip. The energy at these games is always next-level—you’ll have fun even if you’re not a diehard fan!

The stadium itself is enough of a reason to celebrate — not only is it brand-spankin’ new, but it’s also fully enclosed with A/C (a blessing in September), plenty of food and drink options, and great views from almost every seat.

NFL Season watch parties

September means NFL season, and it’s a great time to be in town. Head to one of the countless sportsbooks to get the ultimate viewing experience, like the massive one at Circa Resort & Casino and the circular bar-style sportsbook at Durango Casino & Resort.

The football fan energy is wild in Vegas at this time. Many sportsbooks and bars even offer special happy hours, watch parties, and promotions to celebrate the NFL season. Here are a few spots to check out:

• Beer Park at Paris Las Vegas: Enjoy rooftop views of the Strip along with drink specials and game-day food offerings.

Mexican Independence Day / El Grito Celebrations

Mexican Independence Day, celebrated on Sept. 16, is always a highlight in Vegas during the month of September.

In Spanish, it’s referred to as ‘El Grito de Delores’ or simply ‘El Grito’. With such a diverse population of locals and visitors that visit Las Vegas, the city loves getting into the celebratory spirit!

Music lovers can look forward to entertainment by top Latin artists, including Banda MS on September 12, Alejandro Fernández on September 13 and 15, and Palomazo Norteño on September 14.

For a more traditional El Grito celebration, head to The Venetian Resort, where you’ll find a mariachi band and folkloric dancers at St. Mark’s Square at The Grand Canal Shoppes during the celebratory weekend!

See the seasonal displays at the Bellagio Conservatory

If you find yourself on the Strip near Bellagio, head inside the Bellagio to see the beautiful Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, featuring larger-than-life floral displays that change seasonally.

Each season, the talented Horticulture and Engineering teams transform the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents, and colors!

Depending on when you go, you’ll be able to enjoy a different landscape featuring Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter, along with a special display for Lunar New Year.

We’ve seen more of these than we can count on both hands, yet we keep coming back because they’re all so spectacularly pretty.

If you’re headed to Vegas during September, then you’ll be able to catch the start of the Harvest display at the Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. The 2025 Fall / Harvest display runs from 8/30/2025 – 11/8/2025

Attend a pool party

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the warmer months (April to October) is pool party season.

If your idea of an awesome daytime activity includes lounging around the pool, dancing to live music played by top DJs, drinking summer cocktails, and gorging on delicious (and rather expensive) poolside chicken tenders, then you’ll probably want to plan to hit up a day club on your Vegas trip!

Pool party season at the day clubs runs from April to the end of October. Encore Beach Club at Encore Las Vegas, Daylight at Mandalay Bay, Ayu Dayclub at Resorts World, TAO Beach Club at The Venetian, and WET Republic at MGM Grand are some of the most sought-after pool parties across the Strip.

If you want to live it up Vegas-style, book a cabana for the ultimate dayclub experience (if you’ve got the budget for it).

XS Night Swim

If you’re a first-timer in Las Vegas, you absolutely have to experience XS Night Swim at the Wynn. Imagine the best elements of a high-energy nightclub combined with the luxury of an upscale pool party, all under the stars. XS Night Swim flips the script on a typical night out by bringing the party outside, right to the pool!

Instead of being packed inside a crowded dance floor (sweating your butt off in a suit and tie or in a cocktail dress), you get to dance poolside or even take a dip in the water, all while enjoying world-class DJ sets and light shows.

There is a different dress code for these Night Swim events — feel free to wear pool attire or nightlife attire. Everyone is encouraged to jump in the water! Ladies, you can even skip the heels if you want!

The atmosphere is nothing short of electric. It’s a unique blend of music, luxury, and fun that you won’t find anywhere else. Plus, you get to cool off in the pool, which is a refreshing twist, especially during those hot Vegas nights.

Experience a high-tech show at The Sphere

If you’ve driven on the highways of Las Vegas, chances are you’ve seen the big glowing ball that is Sphere. With the weather being so hot this month, spending a few hours indoors with air-conditioning will be a dream.

The Sphere Experience is a two-part multi-sensory experience lasting approximately two hours. In all honesty, it’s two hours of immersive amazement.

Again, there are two parts to the experience. First, you’ll get to explore The Atrium. There’s a 360-degree avatar capture, a mesmerizing 50-foot holographic installation, and a few other cool tech features.

Then, brace yourself for an immersive cinematic experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen with Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Postcard from Earth.’ This specially commissioned film is a sci-fi portrait of our planet, leveraging Sphere’s cutting-edge technologies to transport you to new worlds without ever leaving your seat.

Being outside in Vegas is hard with the desert sun beaming down all day. And one can only gamble and pool so much during the day. The summer months are the perfect time to stay indoors and catch some of the shows the city is famous for!

Las Vegas has a world-class theater scene. From burlesque to magic, Cirque de Soleil to comedy, there is a show for every type of person and every sort of budget. And the best part is, there’s a show happening every single night in Vegas.

Take a day trip out of Las Vegas

With the weather cooling down a bit, spending time outdoors is more bearable compared to the brutal heat that comes with the summer months. If you’ve got a full day to spare, we’d highly recommend getting out of the city to experience some of the really cool outdoor destinations in the region.

Red Rock Canyon: A short 30-minute drive west of the city, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area boasts striking red rock formations and a scenic loop drive. Enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and epic views of the Mojave Desert. The Calico Tanks Trail is a favorite of ours.

Kayaking on the Colorado River: For a refreshing adventure, head to the Colorado River. Rent a kayak and paddle through the Black Canyon, exploring hidden coves, hot springs, and dramatic canyon walls. Guided tours are available for those looking to learn more about the area’s natural history and wildlife.

Valley of Fire State Park: Just an hour’s drive from Las Vegas, Valley of Fire State Park is a must-visit. It’s our favorite park in Nevada! Known for its beautiful red sandstone formations and ancient petroglyphs, this park offers hiking, scenic drives, and picnic spots.

Zion National Park: A bit further afield (but well worth the trip), Zion National Park in Utah is about a 2.5-hour drive from Las Vegas. World-famous for its towering cliffs, narrow slot canyons, and lush hanging gardens, Zion offers a variety of epic hiking trails. While Angels Landing and The Narrows are the most famous, our favorite hike is the one up to Observation Point.

Tips For Visiting Las Vegas In September

• September in Vegas is still pretty swelteringly hot outdoors. It’s not humid hot, but it is dry heat. Luckily, most places pump the AC all summer long. To stay cool, staying inside is your best bet. You might need to carry a light jacket with you when indoors!
• If you’re going to walk The Strip, plan to take breaks every 10-15 minutes to prevent overheating. Luckily, most of the casino hotels are connected to each other so you can walk from hotel to hotel without having to spend too much time under the blazing sun!
• Labor Day Weekend is the first week of September. This usually signals the biggest rush of visitors since Memorial Day Weekend. Expect restaurants, casinos, and swimming pools to be packed over the holiday weekend.
• If you plan on doing a lot of paid attractions, Go City can save you money on multiple attractions with their All-Inclusive Pass or Explorer Pass.
• Be sure to pack a pair of comfortable travel shoes that can handle lots of mileage and keep your feet blister-free.
• Traffic on the Las Vegas Strip is usually bad at all times of the year, so plan to leave earlier if you have reservations that require you to be somewhere at a specific time.
• Getting around by rideshare and taxi are equally as popular in Vegas. A taxi can even be cheaper than Uber/Lyft during peak hours, while an Uber/Lyft is cheaper during off-peak hours.
